Departed Whitehorse on July 28 and headed to Watson Lake.
Watson Lake, YT is known for the "Sign Post Forest". No we didn't leave a sign. |
Look what Cheryl found, someone from Fort Wayne traveled this far???? |
| Watson Lake Department Store! |
Departed Watson Lake and traveled to Muncho Lake, BC. This area was recommended by a couple we met in Whitehorse. So this part of the Alcan is new to us (BC 97). Wild animals a plenty!!!
| Herds of Bison |
| Goats |
| Muncho Lake from the road view point. |
| Not a bad campsite!!! |
| Northern Rockies Lodge meeting room. |
| Lodge offers remote fishing serviced by their own plane. |
Left Muncho Lake and heading to Ft. Nelson, BC. Very scenic drive.
| Check out the Goat |
| Hoodoos (erosion pillars). |
| Toad River, turquoise color |
| And more road construction!! |
When they rebuild a road they do it to last a few years. About a 2' build up of stone to help keep road intact during the long winters of freezing and thawing. |
Ft. Nelson did not have much to offer, so we did a short hike. Found this Ptarmigan along the trail. |
